About Me

Hello, my name is Emily Wickham. I grew up in Atwood, KS on and off our family farm. I naturally bonded with animals from a young age and decided to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I worked at Kansas State Veterinary Health Center for 5 years until I moved to Holdrege in August of 2021, then finding our forever home in Bertrand in 2024 while continuing to provide service to all of Phelps County, NE.

I love spending quality time with all pets, mine & yours. I find that spending time & taking care of animals brings me joy, feeling accomplished and feeling naturally rejuvenated, which makes for a win-win being in the animal industry.

I live with my husband, Grant, and our 3 fur-babies; Oliver (Black Lab/Great Pyrenees), Ivy Jean (Cat), both were adopted from the animal shelter in Manhattan, KS and our newly added sweet old man- Roscoe (cat), adopted from Kearney Cat Rescue. Our pets are the center of our lives & bless us on the daily.

During high school I had a small pet sitting service, offering in house visits and weekend boarding at my family home. During this time I shadowed 2 local Veterinarians before going to school for Veterinary Nursing at Colby Community College.

While in college for Veterinary Nursing, I worked at Tri-State Vet in Atwood and was a student tutor for the Vet Nursing Program.

In 2016 I started my full time job at K-State’s Veterinary Teaching and Specialty Referral Hospital as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in the ICU and ER.

After moving to Holdrege in August of 2021, I worked at North Park Animal Hospital until I was in the position to start my own business.

I’ve done some contract work for nearby clinics along with a telehealth triage unit, as of winter 2024 this business has filled my schedule each and every day so i’m now 100% focused on providing your loved ones with the upmost care!

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse in the State of Kansas, a Licensed Vet Tech in the State of Nebraska and New York.
I am Fear Free Certified, which is a certification course for Veterinary Staff to recognize and appropriately handle fearful pets. I am also BLS & ALS RECOVER Certified, a rigorous course and certification to perform and teach CPR for animals; Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support.

Throughout my years in the Veterinary field, I have become passionate about the mental health of my patients, in and out of the clinic. This growing passion along with seeing the need for more pet sitting options in a rural farming community has led me to start my own pet sitting business.

I will always stand by what I preach- “Always treat every pet like they’re your own.”

Being able to provide high quality, loving care to pets is vital to my mental health as well. Creating a service and business that implements these values and passions every single day has been a dream come true for me.

I want to change the standards for pet care in rural communities by going above and beyond to ensure your pet(s) feel valued, loved and safe while you are away. I want to decrease a common issue; separation anxiety, amongst our 4-legged family members and make them excited to see you packing up the suitcase or heading off to work! Creating this business and informing pet owners about the endless possibilities there are to achieve such an environment for their pets, while spreading awareness of our pet’s mental health is my ultimate goal!

My 5-10 year goal is to offer widespread resources for pet parents; from high quality pet care to informative classes pet owners can go to or sign up for as needed.
